Sobriety

A friend reached out to me about the post I made yesterday about being sober from alcohol.

She mentioned never remembering me drinking excessively, and that's true - I didn't drink often. However, it's a common misconception that you need to drink frequently to be considered an alcoholic. For me, it was more about what happened when I did drink.

Honestly, most of my biggest regrets in life stem from things I said or did while under the influence. If that's not a wake-up call to not drink, I'm not sure what is.

Coming from a family of alcoholics, I knew I didn't need to hit rock bottom to make a change.

Sometimes, it's just about being honest with yourself and making choices that are right for YOU, even if others don't understand.

For me, it's about not lying to myself.
